You've had some lessons, taken a workshop or retreat, you meditate on your own and are looking to restart or strenghten your practice. Mayu offers a range of services to help invigorate a stagnant practice or inspire you to take your practice deeper.
You may be looking for a group of local practitioners in the meditation tradition of your choice. You might want to search for teachers and teachings new to you, as a way of broadening your knowledge and experience. Or you may prefer a silent group sit to enhance your home practice with a little social connection. Mayu offers a wide range of classes on the Meetup calendar, from classes to workshops to half-day and full-day retreats.
If your meditation is deepening (or stalling), one-on-one assistance from a teacher can jumpstart your practice in a profound way. Many of our class instructors will tailor a single session or series of sessions for your individual questions and needs.
Private instruction can take place at Mayu or at your own location Each teacher has different specialties and different rates which can be found on our Private Instruction page.
Mayu's drop-in meditation is a unique way to enjoy the peacefulness of a meditation center and the companionship of like-minded friends. Our sanctuary is open Monday through Thursday 10am - 7pm and Friday & Saturday 10am - 5pm. During these hours you can stay for 15 minutes or the entire day.
Any silent, contemplative activity is welcome during drop-in hours (prayer, meditation, reading, journaling). Many visitors use our iPods and headphones to listen to a selection of hundreds of guided meditations and meditation teachings.
Our iPod selections feature some of the best teachers in the world, including Eckhart Tolle, Pema Chodron, Thich Nhat Hanh, Andrew Weil, Rick Hanson, Sally Kempton, Jon Kabat-Zinn, Sharon Salzberg, and dozens more. Already have a favorite teacher on your phone or iPod? Borrow our headphones and enjoy their teachings!
During drop-in hours you could design a half-day respite for yourself, devoting a portion of time to reading, meditation, journaling and a foot bath (see below).
